 Kavita Kat Macmillan is an interdisciplinary vocalist, musician, and performer whose work bridges yoga, somatic practice, devotional singing, and creative awakening.  Using practices from mantra, sacred sound, yoga, butoh dance, somatic healing modalities, and ritual, Kavita supports participants to discover authentic voice, embodied movement, and deep listening in relationship to themselves, their ancestors, and the natural world.  Kavita’s guidance, through her in-depth mentorships, retreats, and workshops, helps catalyze people of all backgrounds and ages to shed inhibition, dissolve blocks, and access their unique, authentic voice, and seat of creativity within. Introduced to Kirtan living in New York city and training to teach yoga, Kavita had the good fortune to be in frequent company & practice with great western Kirtan wallahs Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das & Shyam Das among others. At the same time she was introduced to the path of Indian Classical Music and began to study with grammy-nominated composer Michael Harrison. Deeply moved by this lineage and practice Kavita continued to study extensively in NYC and India with Sri Karunamayee as well as Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan. She now studies Hindustani singing with internationally recognized vocalist, composer and performer Warren Senders.  Kavita’s background in butoh dance and experimental theater grew out of many years of training in New York and Los Angeles.  She was an orginal founding dancer of her teachers dance company “The Vangeline Theater” and performed with the company and as a solo artist while also offereing workshops. 

Whether through voice, music, and movement or through ritual and embodied practices, Kavita guides participants toward authentic expression, allowing perceived blocks to fall away and all the while connecting deeply to spirit.  A generous, nurturing guide with deep roots in practice, Kavita facilitates at retreats, workshops, private & group classes as well as spiritual festivals internationally. Her most recent album ‘The Beloved Lives Inside’ is now available for streaming worldwide.  Her follow up album ‘This is Love’ is due for release Spring 2026.   kavitakatmacmillan.com
